Privacy Policy

What we process

• Account: email address, name, username, language, timezone, unit preference, country code.
• Fishing data: sessions, location and track points, catches, gear, bait, photos, notes.
• Environmental data: weather, sea, pressure, wind, moon and sun data at the moment of the record.
• Technical: device model, OS version, app version, push token, IP address.

Location data is sensitive

• All fishing records are private by default.
• Public sharing requires your explicit opt-in.
• Public shares never show exact coordinates; they are fuzzed server-side within a defined radius.
• Locations of protected species are never shared.
• Your personal heatmap is visible only to you.
• EXIF location data is stripped from uploaded photos.

Who we share with

• Weather and marine providers: only a rounded coordinate and a timestamp; no identity data.
• Subscription provider (RevenueCat) and stores: purchase validation.
• Push providers (Apple / Google): device token.
• Photo-based species identification providers: Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI. When you use this feature your fish photo is sent to one of these companies. Which one is used depends on configuration and is kept current in this document.

Analytics events never carry fishing locations, exact coordinates, photos or user notes. Marketing analytics does not run without consent.

Photo-based species identification

This feature is optional; if you do not use it, none of your photos are sent to a third party.

When you do use it:

• The photo is re-encoded on our server; all metadata, including location (EXIF), is dropped. The provider receives an image that carries no location.
• Your name, email, fishing records and coordinates are not sent.
• The result is a suggestion. It is not written to your log until you confirm the species.
• Whether providers use the data to train their own models is governed by our contract with that company; we state the current position here.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account from within the app. The account closes immediately; your data is kept recoverable for a limited period and then permanently deleted or anonymised. Signing in again within that period restores your account.
