BEST TIMES

Barracuda dislike very fast retrieves: wind slowly and steadily with frequent stops, mixing in short, sharp jerks. 17–19 cm long jerkbaits and 10–15 cm minnows work well; light colours (white, green, yellow) and rattling lures stand out. Strikes often come from the side, so swap weak short-shank trebles for strong long-shank ones and set the drag carefully for the first run. The teeth are saw-like: unhook with pliers, and expect soft plastics to be shredded.
