Tusk live over rocky ground on the shelf and slope from 100 to 1000 m, so this is almost entirely deep bottom fishing. From a boat, present fish strip, mackerel or squid close to the bottom on a heavily leaded rig; pirks also work over deep rock. Tusk are easily confused with ling and hake, so check the fish. Fish brought up from depth usually do not survive release; tackle figures are conservative typical ranges.
