BEST TIMES

Dawn Dusk Afternoon

Red porgy live along rock–sand transition lines, usually at 20–120 m; the classic method is bottom fishing from a boat with squid, shrimp, marine worms or small fish strips. Big fish are cautious, so a fine trace and natural presentation make a difference; fresh chub mackerel or sardine strip and large prawns work well. Slow jigs and inchiku-type lures are increasingly used for them. Dawn and late afternoon are the most productive times, and pandora anglers report red porgy turning up towards sunset.
