BEST TIMES

Pollack live over weedy rock and marks that drop into deep water; they dive for cover the moment they strike, so lift them away from the kelp hard in the first seconds. A sand-eel soft plastic on a 30–40 g jig head, sent to the bottom and wound back very slowly, is the classic method. Near-surface spinning or fly at dusk and deeper water along tide-swept rock by day are worth trying. With bait, present sand eel or ragworm in mid-water under a float.
