The painted comber is a small predator of rocky bottoms and Posidonia seagrass beds, usually shallower than 30 m, feeding on fish and crustaceans. The classic method is a snooded drop rig: mussel, shrimp, cuttlefish or fish strip held close to the bottom along the edge of rocks and weed. It also takes small soft-plastic shrimps on jig heads with light LRF gear; work the lure just above the bottom to avoid snagging weed and rock. There is no specific Turkish size limit, but returning small fish is a good habit.
