BEST TIMES

Morning Afternoon Dusk

Ide travel in large shoals: get one feeding and others should follow. To keep them high in the water, feed maggots or casters little and often (8–10 at a time) and change the frequency rather than the amount. Missed bites on the drop mean the fish are rising, so shallow up — down to a rig of about 60 cm. On hot summer days light fly tackle with long fluorocarbon leaders is very effective too, with small weighted nymphs or dry flies for surface-feeding fish; handle the fish with wet hands and return it quickly.
