BEST TIMES

European barracuda school near the surface and chase small fish such as sardine and horse mackerel: from shore walk-the-dog a surface lure, switch to a shallow-diving minnow when fish are close in, and change colour if one follows without striking. On dark-moon nights, a long shadow under the baitfish gathered by boat lights means a school — cast a diver to it. They rarely take a still bait, so use live bait on bait rigs. The teeth are saw-like; unhook with pliers.
