The comber lives over rock, Posidonia seagrass, sand and mud, ranging deeper than the painted comber and feeding on fish, cephalopods and crustaceans. From a boat, a snooded drop rig with shrimp, squid, cuttlefish or fish strip held close to the bottom often brings it in as a by-catch. It also hits small jigs and soft plastics on jig heads worked along the bottom; touch bottom, then wind a turn or two to keep clear of rock. There is no specific Turkish size limit; release the small ones.
