Brill usually live deeper than 10 m on sand, mud or shingle; shore chances peak in spring when they come shallower to spawn. Distance matters: use clipped-down rigs and 1/0–2/0 hooks. A silver strip of mackerel is the best bait, with peeler crab, squid and worm as alternatives. Slow drifting over sand from a boat is worth a try; tackle figures are typical ranges.
